Sometimes, the things you wish for, do happen! An Intern@Red Hat

“If you focus your mind on the freedom and community that you can build by staying firm, you will find the strength to do it.”
-Richard M. Stallman
Hope you all are doing great,
I would like to share the past two weeks of my experience of internship at Red Hat,
Here I am Saurabh Thakre a graduate from Deogiri Institute Of Engineering and Management Studies,Aurangabad.I am working at Red Hat as a ECS trainee from the last two weeks. To be in Red Hat has always been my dream.I have chosen Red Hat as my career when I was first introduced to Linux in my second year of engineering and from that day i started dreaming about it and tried to achieve whatever which makes me close to get into Red Hat.

In doing so I got selected as a Mozilla Club Captain of DIEMS College,Aurangabad and then the journey begins and I was getting involved in many open source communities and then I became the HackerEarth Campus Ambassador and as well as I also started reporting bugs for upstream project like fedora, only because of my hunger towards gaining the knowledge and to meet new people from the same community I had attended PyCon2017 India at Delhi.Where I got to know more about “Opensource“, first time i got to know the real meaning of Collaboration over there.

Then after doing RHCSA and RHCE certification from the Red Hat Academy which is another great initiative taken by Red Hat to provide training and certification to college students at cheap cost. Then I kept moving towards this opensource world and got to know more about emerging technologies like Openshift,Openstack,Ansible and did projects in respective technologies and Participated in Hack Your Travel with Openshift which was a hackathon hosted by Red Hat.
Then i got opportunity to give interview at Red Hat,Pune on 11th april 2018 and Pravin Mali and Prasad Mukhedkar had taken my interview and it was one of my great experience where i had interactive rounds. It was like we were sharing our knowledge with each others which are from basics of RHEL to the advance and the thing I have noticed is that this interview is very different from other company do,everything was upto the mark.On 17th of April 2018 fortunately i got selected as a Trainee Associate Technical Support Engineer and that was my goal which I accomplished.

Week 1:
On the first day of joining which is 18th of June 2018 at Red Hat Pune and the GWS team,Site Management Team took a great care of all the on-boarding process and the paperwork that was the best part of first day everything was well handled. On the same day unexpectedly I got the ThinkPad T430s as a welcome gift with some Red Hat diary and Swags.
In between we were going through lots of activities. Then Red Hat had organized induction program for interns In 4 star Hotel,Pune where we had a lot of exposure to Red Hat’s product and enjoyed many activities by Rupali Talwatkar.

There is something I love about Red Hat and that is the Open Culture, unlike working in closed environments, we have open cabins, everyone and anyone can reach out to others and ask about anything they feel stuck at or they are interested in.
And If we talk about the benefits here, well, we have a lot, from swags, to free food, open culture, frequent meet-ups, indoor games, and a lot of others. You will never feel bored here, sometimes to an you just fell not to leave the office.
Do you know, we are also going to an outing for 2 days ……
This is us WE ARE RED HAT…..
